Thermal Modeling of Electrical Transformers

چکیده
Thermal modeling of transformer is necessary to ensure the optimal design and cost of manufacture of transformer. Either of the empirical formulae available from the standards and practical measurement techniques used in the industries as an alternative to the formulae will not be able to answer the problem exactly and hence the development of software based thermal modeling techniques that use the advantages of today’s computational power and produce a quicker as well as best solution is the need of the day. A good number of thermal models are available for thermal modeling of transformer, which are based on lumped values of losses. This paper presents a thermal model based on FEM technique and circuit modeling that can calculate the thermal profile across the transformer geometry at any instant, given the input of the loading conditions at that instant. The model has been tested on an industrial transformer and the results obtained are compared with the practical measured data for that transformer.

Modeling the Frequency Response Movements in Power Transformers for Predicting Purposes
Power transformers are key components in electrical power supplies and their failure could cause severe consequences on continuity of service and also generates substantial costs. Identifying problems at an early stage, before catastrophic failure occurs, is a great benefit for reliable operation of power transformers. Frequency Response Analysis (FRA) is a new, well-known and powerful diagnost...

This paper presents a new method for evaluation and simulation of inrush current in various transformers using operational matrices and Hartley transform. Unlike most of the previous works, time and frequency domain calculations are conducted simultaneously. Mathematical equations are first represented to compute the inrush current based on reiteration and then Hartley transform is used to stud...

Single-source binary hybrid multilevel inverters with cascaded transformers have a bulky transformer connected to their main H-bridge cells in each phase. This bulky transformer has been eliminated in this work without any effect on operation and modulation strategies. The proposed topology has significant advantages from view point of dimensions and number of transformers, design of transforme...
متن کاملPower transformers health index calculation using reliability methods for the case study of the Dez Dam and Karkheh Dam hydro power plants
Transformers in power plants act as intermediaries between the power plant and the power grid, which are affected by electrical stresses such as switching, thermal stresses such as overload and arc, and chemical reactions in the dielectric oil. Acid and moisture components cause deterioration of transformer oil and paper insulation. Condition assessment of transformers is a method to predict an...
